Summer Inspections - Reminders and Tips

School Buildings and Grounds Personnel are Preparing for the Busiest Time of the Year

As many Buildings and Grounds personnel know summer break is the by far the busiest time of year. The daunting task of getting 6 months worth of projects done in 6 weeks can seem almost impossible. Yet every year the expectation is there. However for several of you this will be the time of year you will be receiving your annual visit from Midwest Alarm Services for inspections of fire alarm systems, range hoods, fire extinguishers and automatic sprinklers. As a friendly reminder here are a few things to remember to help optimize your inspections and time for your staff.

  1. Coordinate inspections to be completed before floor wax begins or is over.
  2. Provide good access or a set of keys to your inspector.
  3. Bundle testing of alarms, extinguishers, and range hoods to have all services completed at the same time
  4. Approve deficiency repairs while techs are on site to complete all work for the summer

While this does not seem like it would be a big deal these small steps can greatly help with the goal of moving forward to starting another successful school year.
